Welcome to Ordered Sound!

My name is Tom Albans and I am a composer based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I compose original works and arrangements for a wide variety of performers, both amateur and professional, across a range of styles, and I am happy to take commissions (including arranging, transcribing and score preparation), whatever the scale of your project or the budget available.

Whether you’re a professional group looking to add to the existing repertoire, a school or amateur group looking for something different, or an individual needing something specific for a special occasion, commissioning music can be a hugely rewarding solution – and it needn’t be costly. I am passionate about working with performers and hearing their interpretations of my music, and I love the challenge of writing something to meet your exact requirements, so let me know what you have in mind.

Feel free to browse my list of works which includes details of the work involved in previous commissions and contains many examples of scores, audio files and videos. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your requirements with a view to a potential commission then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The Fear of Being Alone
Review of a concert featuring ‘The Fear of Being Alone’
I gave Tom a brief of what I wanted […] and in an impressively short time he was able to complete the composition and post off all the music to the band. The band was happy […] and soon afterwards I was very happy to listen to the result.
